There
is a fine line between the beautiful and the grotesque when looking
at the human body. I am fascinated by the miracles and mysteries of
our biological selves and, in my artwork, I explore and combine the
internal and external details. I like to create my own mysteries by
sharing only hints of the familiar. By working in a combination of watercolor
painting and photography, I play with surfaces and layers to create
new depths and light. A piece may seem to reference something bigger:
inner body can become outer space. In my most recent work, I have been
thinking about the way movement and vibrations affect us. Vibrations
in balance cause harmony, and off balance cause violence. In my work,
as in a science lab, I acknowledge the layers and mystery of nature.
